Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineer
- 5-10 years process engineering experience
- Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures. Assistance given for unusual problems. Work associated with non-routine assignments reviewed for application of sound professional judgment
- Good oral and written communication skills
Basic Function:
- Provide technical support for refinery operating and maintenance activities and engineering projects.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to other refinery departments (Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Safety).
- Monitor and evaluate process unit performance.
- Perform process optimization studies.
- Develop economic justification for refinery improvements.
- Make recommendations for modifications to improve refinery operations
- Identify and develop refinery improvement projects.
- Perform and/or manage all phases of engineering projects from conceptual studies, process design, cost estimating, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, through startup.
- Perform process hazard analyses.
- Administer and/or manage assigned refinery engineering/inspection programs.
- Perform equipment inspections.
- Prepare engineering specifications including instrument specifications, equipment specifications, construction specifications and bid packages.
- Solicit and evaluate bids for equipment and construction.
Other:
- This individual will join a staff of 12 other engineers/designers in the Engineering Department who perform refinery engineering, design and inspection activities. Areas of support include crude distillation, hydrotreating, naphtha reforming, isomerization, asphalt blending, sulfur recovery units and refinery utility systems.
- This individual will have a wide range of process and project engineering duties that include:
- Providing technical support to refinery operating and maintenance personnel.
- Performing process design associated with refinery improvements
- Performing and/or managing all aspects of capital improvement projects from conceptual design through startup.
