Reports To: Information Technology Manager
Job Summary:
The position requires supervision of two Helpdesk Technicians. The supervisory role will include making sure work is completed in a timely manner as outline by the Information Technology Manager.
This position will also provide technical service and support to include; PC's, network & internet security, email, and application installation and maintenance. This position requires ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment. Candidates must be very approachable, a self starter, have a strong sense of job ownership, and be very willing to learn and evolve with new technologies. Strong verbal and technical writing skills, the ability to stay focused and the ability to communicate with users of all technical levels are a must. Applicant will be part of the emergency on-call rotation. Salary will depend on experience.
Job Qualifications/Experience:
- At least one year supervisory experience
- 3-5 years demonstrated Server/network administration
- Experience administering distributed systems such as Active Directory, Windows Server, MS Exchange, SQL Server, and Remote Access
- In depth working knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory
- The ability to prioritize work, work well independently, and work well with others in a team environment
- Experience with common networking protocols, VPN, router management, etc.
- Wide range of knowledge/experience with common Windows software, including Microsoft Office
- Experience backing up workstations and servers in a mixed environment
- Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
- Strong technical aptitude, ability to research and solve complex issues independently
- MCSE desired, but not required
Responsibilities:
- Supervise two Helpdesk technicians making sure tasks are completed, documented, and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Provide IT Manger with periodic status updates related to helpdesk responsibilities.
- Review and deploy service packs, hot fixes, system updates, and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices
- Recommend and execute modifications to Windows systems and infrastructure applications in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
- Maintain inventory of computer equipment, drivers, software, and patches for equipment and communicates with manufactures to replace warranty parts and components
- Support, configure, and maintain servers and network, including installations and maintenance, managing system security, and updating software
- Configure, troubleshoot, and monitor networking equipment and software
- Provide server support and maintenance to Windows 2003/2008 server systems
- Administer network workstations utilizing the TCP/IP networking protocol for Windows-based operating systems
- Create and maintain system setup documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software or other network production problems and replace defective components as necessary; document problems and resolutions for future reference
- Determine plans for new network/computer hardware or modifications to existing hardware
- Establish user profiles, user environments, directories and security for network
- Work with vendors to resolve complex network, server and software application problems
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made and to determine where change will need to be made in the future
- Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems
- Investigate user problems and needs, identify their source, and implement solutions
- Assist personnel of other departments as a computer resource
